Hunt & Chiefs – An Update!
by Soccer LadumaThere’s an update regarding Kaizer Chiefs and Gavin Hunt as talks are believed to be progressing for the coach to take over at Naturena.
Amakhosi confirmed the departure of Ernst Middendorp last week and the Siya crew have it on good authority that talks are ongoing with Hunt to become his replacement after he also concluded a settlement with Bidvest Wits.

Wits has been sold to businessman Masala Mulaudzi and will be moved to Thohoyandou and renamed Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila next season.
The Siya crew reported last week that Hunt was set for talks with Chiefs in the near future and it is understood that the serial winning coach is now back in Johannesburg from his holiday in Plettenburg Bay, possibly to finalise a potential move to Naturena.
Kaizer Motaung, the Amakhosi chairman, said in a statement last week that an appointment to take over from Middendorp will be made before players return from pre-season, which is expected to be sometime before the end of the month.

With Hunt now unattached, talks will boil down to the mandate being put forward by the Chiefs hierarchy, who, it must be noted, are still waiting for a ruling on whether their appeal to have the two-window FIFA ban overturned has been successful.
The hearing was at the Court of Arbitration for Sport on September 9, and if it is upheld then Chiefs would not be able to sign players until next season.
It’s a fact that must be taken into account when hiring a new coach.
