Griffith University takes the pressure off QTAC applications
by Monique StClairSome good news for local year 12 students, with Griffith University introducing a new ‘early offer guarantee’.
It’ll allow students to use their semester one results to apply for courses, rather than wait for their ATAR results.
It means some students could begin studying late this year, which could help them avoid the federal government’s new ‘Job Ready Graduates’ legislation which comes into place next year.
That could save some students, particularly in the humanities field, up to $20,000 in fees.
Griffith University Head of Recruitment Katy Cuskelly told 1029 Hot Tomato’s Galey, Emily Jade and Christo it’s good news for those who are nervous about getting accepted.
“We need to make sure that students coming through can handle the workload and all that, so we’re looking at motivated students who are doing their QCE or HSC.
“They’ve got to have – there’s a certain eligibility criteria – but I suppose it does help those who are feeling a little anxious or nervous about their ATAR and knowing that they can use their semester one results and upload those for the QTAC system,” Ms Coskelli said.
