On day one of Parliament's Monsoon Session, MPs registered their attendance digitally using a mobile application called 'Attendance Register'. It is a first-of-its-kind initiative launched to maintain the touch-free environment inside Parliament on the first day of the Monsoon Session in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

The app is designed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to curtail the risk of coronavirus spread as it prevents the legislators from using the attendance register and also maintain social distancing.

To mark their attendance, all the MPs will have to be present inside Parliament to register their attendance through the app. According to an official, the app will only work inside the Parliament.

“The app will work only in the Parliament premises. The MPs will have to take their face shot and upload it to identify themselves. Then they have to register themselves and their attendance will be marked in the safest way possible in this pandemic,” ANI quoted a senior official.

The features include a dashboard, applications, attendance, leave applications, half-day, full-day attendance, etc.
