A man from the UK who recently moved house in Brighton was shocked to discover his new rented place is covered with massive murals of Homer and Bart Simpson, characters from the legendary American sitcom created by Matt Groening.

Normally, a prospective tenant actually visits a house before deciding to rent it. But this year, most people are taking video tours of homes on their phones and laptops due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

While video tours can give a fair idea about how a house is going to be from the inside, not much is shown about its surroundings and neighbourhood.

Charlie Lucas-Smith went on Google Street just four days before moving into his new place in Brighton. It was then he discovered the house was overwhelmed with murals of Simpsons characters. But Charlie isn't upset about it. In fact, he described the artworks as great.

"I wanted to see if there were any parking spaces, and when I put the address into Google Maps it suddenly sunk in where I was living. I sent a photo of it in the group chat and said 'surely we're not living here,” said Charlie.

"Luckily, it's right up my street at the end of the day and something I find really funny, and I've always been a massive fan of The Simpsons," he added.

The murals have been accurately painted with the right colours of the characters. The eyes, the face, and other features have been intricately painted keeping the fine details in mind.

Charlie says lots of locals and passers-by are seen pointing towards the house or heard talking about it as they walk past. "You can hear people pointing it out as they walk past the house, and I overheard someone say to their friend the other day, 'this house is jokes," said Charlie.

But this isn't the only house in Brighton with murals of cartoon characters on them. In fact, quite a few of them have been designed and painted by street artist Aroe.
