Customs honours 15 inspectors for various drug seizures at Ruwais Port

Doha: Chairman of the General Authority of Customs (GAC) Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal honored 15 inspectors from the Maritime Customs Department (Ruwais Port Customs), for their seizures of narcotic substances of various types and quantities.

During the honour ceremony, the GAC of Chairman praised the achievements made by customs employees in securing the entry of goods and products through their seizure of these prohibited and narcotic substances that harm the individual and society, valuing the efforts of customs inspectors and their security and customs sense that helped in controlling these prohibitions.

He pointed out that all these achievements and efforts come thanks to the directives of the wise leadership, the wise vision and the great support of the state to the GAC, and the Authority's keenness to provide the best types of inspection and examination devices and the best courses and training programs for employees to enhance their abilities to suspect and monitor suspicious shipments of incoming goods.

This honor comes after the customs inspectors of Ruwais Port at the Maritime Customs Department seized approximately 151 kilograms of hashish narcotic through several seizures in the past period, in addition to the Maritime Customs Department seizing of many violations that are usually and repeatedly done at seaports for several prohibited substances as well as some commercial violations such as evading customs duties or other legal violations.
