Despite being on the receiving end, Kesrick Williams made headlines during the India-West Indies T20I series in 2019. The right-arm pacer was involved in ugly banter with Indian captain Virat Kohli in all three T20Is of the series. It was Kohli who fired the first salvo by imitating Williams' famous 'notebook celebration'.
The right-arm pacer did get him out later in the series but Kohli's domination is still etched in the memories of the fans. In a chat with Firstpost, Williams recalled his banter with the Indian captain and revealed that he just wanted him to 'zip his mouth and bat'.
"In the first game, when Kohli walked in to bat, he walked straight to me and he was like 'Hey, you got me in Jamaica the last time you bowled against me, it's not going to happen here'. I was like this thing happened in 2017, this is 2019, this guy really studied this thing? I was like I can't believe this guy," he told Firstpost.
"Tough to bowl to Kohli? No, it's not. When he gets going, he's a talented player. He's a great player but I am not worried about Kohli. I don't go to bed at night and am like 'ohhh it's Kohli'! No."

Kohli had kicked off the series with an unbeaten 94 off 50 to lead Men in Blue to a six-wicket win as they chased the target of 208 with eight balls still left. Williams made a strong comeback in the second T20I and scalped two wickets, including that of Kohli. The Indian skipper had promoted Shivam Dube to at number three in that game. Men in Blue lost the match by eight wickets.
In the final T20I, Kohli smashed an unbeaten 70 off 29 to lead India to a total of 240. The home team won the game by 67 runs and sealed the series 2-1. Williams isn't a part of IPL and it isn't known when these two players will come face to face next.
