Another Nottinghamshire school confirms positive coronavirus case
Ten schools were affected after positive cases in the county last week
by Peter HennessyParents at a Nottinghamshire Academy have been informed of a confirmed case of Covid-19 at the school.
The Elizabethan Academy in Retford confirmed the case in a message to parents.
The academy in Hallcroft Road is now working closely with Public Health England, and any children who have been in "prolonged contact" with the person who has tested positive will stay home for the next two weeks. The school will remain open to all other students.
It comes after 10 schools announced there had been positive cases on-site last week, with children having to be sent home and some schools closing for all staff and students.
A letter to parents states: "We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.
"We know that you may find this concerning but (we) are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
"The small number of children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will be staying at home for 14 days.
"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well."
It was announced on Monday, September 7, that two teachers at Mellers Primary School in Radford tested positive for Covid-19 - the school is closed until September 21.
