Manchester City who are top Premier League giants are reportedly interested in the signing of Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez this summer.
Although Pep Guardiola and his chiefs have already signed Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, but the Citizens still want to add another central defender before the end of the transfer window.
Going for Jose Gimenez means that Manchester City will have to end their pursuit of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly who has been their major target.
But the Italian club are not ready to sell the Senegalese star considering the target they have in the coming Serie A season.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Manchester City have offered €89 million for Atletico Madrid centre back Gimenez with another €5 million due in add ons.
That is thought to be more than City were willing to bid for Koulibaly but with the defender four years the junior of the Senegalese, the club may be willing to offer more for him.
Last year, Atletico Madrid chiefs were unable to convince Rodri not to leave thereby joining Manchester City and such could happen again on Gimenez.
Guardiola and his men failed to win any title last season as Liverpool dethroned them as the Premier League champions.
