A LUCKY winner has claimed a £58million EuroMillions jackpot just before the final deadline passed.

The ticket holder, from Ayrshire, has landed the whopping prize almost six months after the draw earlier this year on March 17.

The mystery winner has claimed an incredible £57,869,670 in total after lotto chiefs had urged them to come forward.

A deadline to claim the prize had been set to pass last night at 11.59pm - with the money going to good causes if the ticket holder was not found.

The winning numbers for the draw were 05, 07, 08, 16 and 20, with the Lucky Stars 02 and 12.

The National Lottery had urged the lucky winner to come forward earlier this year after the ticket went unclaimed.

Andy Carter, of the National Lottery, said: "We are desperate to find this mystery holder and unite them with this massive prize.

"We’re urging everyone who might have bought a EuroMillions ticket in this area to check their old tickets or look for any missing tickets at home."

The ticket holder is the first EuroMillions winner to come from Ayrshire.

Colin and Christine Weir won a remarkable £161million back in 2011.
