Report: Arsenal and Leeds interested in Dijon star Mounir Chouiar
by Tom ProcterArsenal and Leeds United are reportedly among the teams interested in highly-rated Dijon winger Mounir Chouiar.
L’Equipe are reporting that both Mikel Arteta and Marcelo Bielsa are both keen on the 21-year-old, who the publication say will apparently be left out of Dijon’s squad against Brest this weekend for transfer-related reasons.
Chouiar only joined the club last year from Lens, and scored four goals in 20 appearances in 2020/21.
Supposedly, any transfer for the player would likely cost anywhere from €15 million to €20 million/£13.8 million to £18 million, with Lens recouping 20% of the sell-on fee.
Also said to be in the mix are Wolverhampton Wanderers.
TBR’s View – Leeds more likely?
Chouair appears to be a very refreshing talent and someone who loves to take on his man.
His directness appears to be something that gives defenders a really hard time, with his speed and dribbling two of his best attributes.
Perhaps Chouiar would be likelier for Leeds, given Arsenal have a plethora of wide options at the moment.
The Gunners have just brought in Willian who can play from the flanks, and Arteta also has the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and even talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
