IBM Taiwan eyeing AI storage

by

IBM Taiwan expects its AI storage systems to benefit from the ongoing transformation of Taiwan's financial sector, Taiwanese manufacturers moving operations back home and the rapid growth of Taiwan's semiconductor industry, according to Peter Chu, general manager of IBM Systems, Taiwan.

IBM Taiwan expects strong demand for storage, as local enterprises have to handle large amounts of data being generated and are adopting AIoT systems.

IBM has recently unveiled the Elastic Storage System (ESS) 5000, designed specifically for AI applications, and updated its Cloud Object Storage (COS) service and Spectrum Discover system to strengthen its offerings in the AI storage segment.

For smart medical care, IBM Taiwan is currently working with a hospital in southern Taiwan to help it build a cloud computing platform based on IBM's LinuxONE architecture.
