Perthshire hotelier celebrates 40 years of ownership amid tourism challenges

A Perthshire hotelier is celebrating four decades of family ownership in a year like no other his industry has seen.

Alan Bannerman, of The Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus, brought his team together  to commemorate the anniversary against a backdrop of hospitality trade redundancies and hotel closures.

“It’s not been the year we wanted,” he said. “But we are still very grateful to be here  running this hotel which, as well as being a landmark in the town, is actually one of Coupar Angus’s largest employers.”

The Red House dates back to the Victorian era and was initially named the Railway Hotel due to its close proximity to the old Coupar Angus train station.
