Chris Rock and Jason Schwartzman lead a star-studded cast in all new ‘Fargo’

From acclaimed creator and executive producer Noah Hawley, the fourth season of Emmy® and Golden Globe® award-winning ‘Fargo’ premieres with a double episode at 8:30pm, Thursday 8 October on SBS and at SBS On Demand.

From the cold climes of Minnesota, season 4 of Fargo takes us to 1950 Kansas City, Missouri, and into the heart of the relationship between two warring crime families, one African American and the other, Italian. Between them, they control an alternate economy of exploitation and drugs.

Again proving his chops as a dramatic actor is Chris Rock as Loy Cannon, head of the African American crime family. The Italians are led by Donatello Fadda (Tommaso Ragno).

The pair seem to have struck an uneasy peace in their chase for domination, and to cement their truce, Loy and Donatello trade their youngest sons – Loy hands over Satchel (Rodney Jones) and Donatello reciprocates with Zero (Jameson Braccioforte).

When Donatello dies in hospital following a routine surgery, the tenuous truce is threatened. And threats don’t just come from outside. Josto Fadda (Jason Schwartzman) takes up his father’s mantle, but his efforts to stabilise the organisation are undermined by his brother, Gaetano (Salvatore Esposito), who joins the family in Kansas City from Italy, bringing his reputation for ruthlessness with him.

Amid this turmoil, Patrick “Rabbi” Milligan (Ben Whishaw), a man who once betrayed his own family to serve the Italians, watches carefully to ensure his survival.

The fourth season of Fargo was scheduled to premiere in April, but production in Chicago halted due to the pandemic. Filming resumed in late August, making Fargo the first major production to resume filming in the Windy City since the pandemic began.

While each season of Fargo stands alone, you’ll be able to watch the first three seasons, all boasting excellent ensemble casts, at SBS On Demand from Thursday 17 September.

An all new Fargo story will premiere with two weeks of double episodes, beginning 8.30pm Thursday 8 October on SBS. Episodes will continue weekly at 9.30pm from Thursday 22 October. New episodes will be available at SBS On Demand each week on the same day as broadcast.

Relive the first three standalone seasons of Fargo from September 17 at SBS On Demand.
