Lawlessness in Tamil Nadu: Man urinates in public, thrashes locals with friends on being questioned

A man and his associates allegedly pelted stones at locals in Chennai and assaulted them after he was asked to stop urinating in public.

Chennai: A man and his allies allegedly attacked a group of persons in Chennai after they were questioned over urinating in public. The man and his brother were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. 

The two brothers were identified as Rasheed and Hameed. On Saturday night, the two brothers went to visit a relative who resides in another area in Alandur. 

On Sunday, both Rasheed and Hameed were drunk and the latter allegedly urinated near a water tank in Alandur One of the people living in the area, who was identified as Padmanabhan, allegedly reprimanded Hameed and asked him to stop, The Times of India reported. 

Accused assaulted elderly man 

On being stopped, Hameed allegedly started arguing with the 63-year-old man and assaulted him. As Padmanabhan's family members heard the commotion, they rushed to rescue him. Hameed allegedly hurled abuses at the elderly man's family members and fled from the spot. 

Accused returned with associates 

At around 11 pm, Hameed returned to the spot with four persons and started arguing with the residents. Deenadayalan, a DMK functionary intervened into the matter after he noticed the ruckus. The accused man and his associates allegedly pelted stones at Deenadayalam. The accused broke the functionary's teeth and injured another resident. 

Youth stabbed with paper cutter in Gujarat for stopped 2 from urinating in public

This is not the first time where a person has been thrashed for objecting to urination at public areas. In January this year, a 20-year-old youth from Gujarat was allegedly stabbed by two other persons after he stopped them from urinating in public. The boy who was flying kites on his terrace noticed that two men were urinating outside his house. When the youth asked the two men to stop, they allegedly started abusing him. The youth rushed to the main door where he was stabbed with a paper cutter after a heated argument.
