Updates: Why Aviation Union Halts Arik Air Operations In Lagos (Pictures)

Naija News reports that the Aviation unions claimed that the non-payment started after the company placed 90 per cent of the workforce on compulsory leave.
Meanwhile, speaking on the purported actions of the union, a source in the airline who claimed anonymity, because he is not permitted to speak on behalf of Arik Air.
The anonymous source in the airline said that aggrieved unions, the National Union of Air Transport Employees and the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, decided to withdraw their services, due to an alleged increment of Terminal levy by Bi- Courtney and other anti-labor practice.
Naija news also learnt that the Chief Executive Officer, Arik Air, Captain Roy Ilegbodu had written the Minister of Labour and Employment, the Minister of Aviation, and the Director General, NCAA, appealing for an intervention in seeking for the understanding and cooperation of the workers’ unions to prevent the planned strike.
However, in a reaction to the development, Mr Adebanji Ola, the Communications Manager of Arik Air said that the management has scheduled a meeting with the unions on Teusday Sept. 15 to resolve all matters.
