Putting Up Christmas Decorations Earlier Could Spark Extra Joy, Experts Say

by

Although it’s only September, it seems like putting up Christmas decorations now will make you happier compared to those who relish in the festive spirit later.
Psychoanalytical expert and owner of The McKeown Clinic, Steve McKeown, theorizes that setting up the Christmas decorations earlier will allow people to spread the festive joy for a longer period of time, making them happier than those who wait until later.
“In a world full of stress and anxiety people like to associate to things that make them happy and Christmas decorations evoke those strong feelings of childhood,” McKeown told UNILAD.

He also emphasized that decorations act as a gateway to childhood memories and excitement.
Psychotherapist and author of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do also shared the same view. According to Morin, the holiday decorations help to connect individuals to lost loved ones by bringing memories from the festive season.
The Christmas tree can also evoke emotions of childhood when people used to believe in Santa, creating a cheerful and merry atmosphere for all. So, don’t wait too long to start the celebrations, especially in 2020, when everyone needs a little magic the most.
