Two charged after man, 28, was stabbed to death in Gateshead
by Jen MillsTwo people have been charged after a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death in Gateshead.
Lee Wall, 43, has been charged with murder and Emma Alexander Brown, 39, is accused of assisting an offender, in connection with the death of Daryl Fowler.
Mr Fowler was found unconscious in Chevington, on the Leam Lane estate, at about 8pm on Friday.
He was taken to hospital but died later that evening.
On Sunday, Mr Fowler’s family said they were ‘devastated’ by his death.
In a statement, they said: ‘We are totally devastated at our loss of Daryl. He is going to be such a big miss.
‘Our hearts are breaking right now. We would appreciate that you will let us grieve in privacy, thank you.’
Northumbria Police said inquiries into Mr Fowler’s death are continuing and asked for anyone with information to contact them.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Graeme Dodds said: ‘We believe this has been an isolated incident between individuals who are known to each other, with no wider risk to the public.
‘It is tragic that someone has lost their life and our officers will continue to offer Daryl’s family all the support they need. We would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
‘Our cordon has been reduced but police will remain in the area today to carry out inquiries and offer reassurance to the local community.”
Wall and Brown, both of Chevington, Leam Lane, will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
A 30-year-old woman arrested on Saturday has been released with no further action.
