Asda relaunches Christmas loyalty card with £15 festive bonus for those who sign up
by Emma Munbodh, https://www.facebook.com/EmmaMunbodhAsda has opened up its Christmas Savings club for shoppers looking to get on top of the most expensive month of the year.
The grocer's festive loyalty club is free to join - and savers could earn up to £15 in rewards in time for December.
Essentially a rewards club, the Christmas Savings card can help you build up a pot of money for your big festive shop.
It's now open, meaning you can start putting money away a few pounds at a time.
This cash can then be spent on anything from gifts to decorations, food, entertainment and festive clothing in December.
To sign up, you'll have to pick up a physical card in store - which you can then register online (this is optional but it protects your money if you lose the card).
You can add funds onto your card at any Asda checkout or customer services kiosk - some people find it easier to round up their shopping bill and put the extra amount onto their card each week.
Customers then have until 5pm on November 15 to save, before they can redeem their rewards.
For every £30 you save, you get an extra £1, this jumps to £3 for every £80, £6 for £130, £9 for £180, £12 for £230 and £15 if you have more than £280 saved.
Plus your household can open as many Christmas Savings cards as you like - which could mean an even bigger bonus.
How much do I have to spend for a bonus?
- Save £280+ and receive a £15 bonus
- Save £230-£279 and receive a £12 bonus
- Save £180-£229 and receive a £9 bonus
- Save £130-179 and receive a £6 bonus
- Save £80-£129 and receive a £3 bonus
- Save £30-£79 and receive a £1 bonus
To get involved in the scheme, you'll have to pick up a card from your local Asda store. If you already have a card from previous years, you can simply reuse that one instead.
Once you have one, you can start saving - you could round up your shopping bill and put the extra amount onto your card each week, for example.
There are no credit checks and you can save up to £485 on your Christmas Savings card, but you only need to save £280 for the £15 bonus.
To qualify, you'll need to have hit your chosen milestone by November, 15. The bonus will then automatically be paid on 16 November.
You can top up your card at any store at any checkout (including Self-Scan and Scan & Go) or Customer Service Desk.
Supermarket loyalty cards - such as Nectar and Clubcard - pay in points, not cash, so where do you go if you want a cash reward instead?
If you're worried you'll dip into the money in the meantime, you may want to consider a regular savings account instead.
These let you pay money in (anything from £10 to £250 a month) and will pay you interest at the end of the year.
However, the best rewards are usually for those who save for a full year - so it may be a good one to start in December for Christmas 2021.
