Report: Leeds continue to monitor Adolfo Gaich; move this summer impossible

by

Marcelo Bielsa wants Leeds United to continue to monitor Adolfo Gaich, according to El Intransigente, despite a move being out of the question this summer.

Gaich caught the eye after impressing for San Lorenzo. However, Leeds seemingly missed out as the youngster completed a move to CSKA Moscow earlier in the window.

The 21-year-old has not got off to the best start in Russia. He is yet to open his account in his first five appearances in the top flight.

Nevertheless, El Intransigente reports that Bielsa is keen to keep his countryman on his radar. It is noted that Gaich has previously stated that he wants to play in the Premier League in the future.

The Argentinian outlet adds that the forward’s contract includes a £27.8 million release clause. And given that CSKA have only just added him to their ranks, it would be little surprise if they had no interest in selling him for less during the next couple of windows.

TBR View: Leeds seemingly have good record when tracking long-time targets

If Leeds go on to sign Gaich, he will certainly not be the first player signed during the Bielsa era brought in after being on the radar for a long time.

Robin Koch’s name was first mentioned by Victor Orta back in January (via Yorkshire Evening Post). Meanwhile, Bielsa confirmed, in comments reported by Leeds Live, that Ben White was suggested to him by Orta one year before he joined on loan.

Of course, Leeds have probably missed out on long-time targets as well. But those keen to see Gaich end up at Elland Road may take encouragement from their track record.

And perhaps, it should not be a surprise if Whites fans hear a lot more about Gaich as each future window nears.
