Home Minister Amit Shah re-admitted to AIIMS for 'complete medical checkup' before Parliament session

New Delhi: After undergoing an extended post-COVID-19 treatment, Home Minister Amit Shah has been re-admitted to All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Issuing a statement, AIIMS said, "Shri Amit Shah, Hon'ble Home Minister was discharged from AIIMS, New Delhi after his post-COVID care on August 30. As per advice given at discharge, he has now been admitted for a complete medical checkup before Parliament session for one-two days," the statement from the Chairperson, Media and Protocol Division read.

Shah was admitted around 11 p.m. on Saturday night and is being kept in CN tower, a facility reserved for VVIPs.

Shah has been suffering from post-COVID ailments for a month now. He was previously admitted to AIIMS on August 18 after he suffered post-COVID ailments days after his recovery from COVID-19 disease which he contracted in early August, reported IANS.

He tested positive for COVID-19 on August 2 and received treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

After testing negative on August 14 he was discharged only to re-admitted in AIIMS days after to treat his post-COVID syndromes on August 18.

'Admitted for complete medical checkup'

The Union Home Minister was previously admitted to AIIMS for post-COVID-19 care after he complained of body aches and fatigue. 

Reacting on this development, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on prayed for the good health to Amit Shah.

"Just received the news about the ill-health of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. I pray to God for his good health," Chouhan tweeted in Hindi.
