'she's human too'
Nicola Sturgeon’s sister ‘sick and tired’ of people slating FM over pubs & local lockdowns and begs ‘cut her some slack’
by Katy PaganNICOLA Sturgeon's sister has urged people to cut the First Minister some slack over pubs and local lockdown rules.
NHS worker Gill said she is "sick and tired" of critics slating her older sibling about her handling of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Her impassioned comment comes as Lanarkshire joined Glasgow with local lockdown restrictions and cases continue to soar across the country.
Gill said: "So sick and tired of this.
"She’s working round the clock and has been for months to help this country.
"And she has shown up every single day. Surely it’s time to cut her a bit of slack."
Under the local lockdown restrictions - which also affect Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire - residents can no longer visit each others homes.
But pubs and restaurants remain open after house parties were singled out as the main cause of the spike in cases.
Across the remainder of Scotland, the number of people able to meet in groups will be capped at six from two households from Monday.
Posting on Facebook, Gill added: "So fed up seeing people criticise my sister when it comes to why can pubs etc stay open but we can’t go to each other’s homes.
"It’s called saving the economy and in those establishments there are guidelines.
"It’s not a free for all like it is in a house."
She added: "This also affects her. She won’t see my dad on his birthday probably because her area in lockdown.
"She is human too. I miss her and Peter. My mum and dad and my kids do."
We told earlier how the First Minister was accused of “muddled messages” after admitting her new six-person limit rules were not yet finalised
The Nats supremo was also compared to Donald Trump after she defended Jason Leitch, who branded Covid tests “a bit rubbish”.
In a final plea, Gill said: "Instead of finding fault why don’t you look at the lives she has saved and the lives she is trying to help by getting businesses open .
"This post is about humanity…… not politics.
"I’ll never stop protecting her when it’s so damn personal.
I could not care about politics. Never have. It’s about fighting a pandemic and doing the right things based on evidence by the experts. Nicola is advised ….she does not make the science up."
