This is how Barry Island looked in today's boiling September weather

The temperature in Barry reached 27 degrees as people flocked to the beach

Crowds flocked to Barry Island on Monday, September 14 to make the most of the warm weather Wales has been experiencing.

The temperature in Barry reached 27°C as the summer heat returned to Wales.

It follows similar scenes at the popular resort the previous day, when temperatures also soared.

On Sunday, September 13, weather forecaster Derek Brockway said temperatures reached 23°C in Cardiff.

He said: "Sunnier on Monday and warmer with lighter winds. It will be 26°C in places. Super September sunshine!"

Despite the kids being back in school and many people back at work after taking their break earlier this summer, the beach was busy although it appeared that social distancing was mostly being observed.

This warmer weather is set to last for the next few days, with the mercury in Barry forecast to be above 20 degrees until Friday, September 18.
