FG Lists 28 States That Will Experience Over Flooding This Year

The federal government has listed 28 states out of 36 that will experience heavy rainfall before the year ends.

This was made known in a statement by Sadiya Umar Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development.

She called on the state governments to put in place, measures that will address the impact of the heavy rainfall and flooding.

According to her, the 2020 Annual Flood Outlook forecasts that 102 local government areas (LGAs) in 28 states will have heavy rainfall, while 275 local government areas (LGAs) in the 36 states of the federation and Abuja will experience moderate flooding.

Farouq urged state emergency management agencies, frontline local government authorities and other response agencies to immediately adopt precautionary actions by sensitizing the public and ensuring the dredging of river channels and canals.

She identified the following as states that will experience heavy rainfall and possible flooding
