Man appears in court accused of 2 charges of attempted murder

A man charged with two allegations of attempted murder following an alleged domestic assault in Mapperley appeared in court on a video link.

Police were called to a residential property in Pilkington Road, Mapperley, at around 2pm on Wednesday, August 5, following a report that a man and a woman had been seriously assaulted there.

Joseph Chattaway, 25, of no fixed address, appeared over a video link from HMP Nottingham for a plea and trial preparation hearing at 10am at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, September 14.

Chattaway was identified by a court clerk who read out his name at the start of the hearing where counsel appeared on video links - Alwyn Jones, defending, and Nadia Silver, prosecuting.

No further details were given about the allegations and Chattaway did not enter pleas.

A case management hearing was arranged for Friday, November 6, and a trial date on February 1.

Judge John Burgess further remanded Chattaway in custody.
