What you need to know

TerraMaster announced the new F2-422, a network-attached storage (NAS) enclosure with some highlight features at this price segment. Not only do we have a capable quad-core Intel Celeron J3455 processor, but also 4GB of RAM and 10Gb LAN networking. That's right, this isn't some sluggish 1Gb port you'd normally find on a budget-friendly NAS.

The 10Gb port allows for transfer speeds of up to 10MB/s, about 10 times that of a normal 1Gb port. You'd normally find either two 1Gb ports or a single 2.5Gb port here, but TerraMaster decided to go all-out and offer something a little special. The RAM is also upgradable to 8GB, making this quite the option for those with numerous users needing access.

There is a slight drawback to the RAM in that it's not DDR4 but DDR3. Still, it's worthwhile for those wanting a little more from their NAS enclosure. If the two bays sounds a little restricted, TerraMaster also has the F4-422, F5-422, and F8-422 available with more drive bays. The new F2-422 will be available in October for $360.
