Black Leopards' Joseph Mhlongo, who previously made it onto the radar of Orlando Pirates has had a potential move to a new club, dashed.

The forward has since become a free agent, after turning down an improved offer from Leopards when his deal in Limpopo ended on June 30.

With the player free to sign for any team of his choice, the Siya crew reported that there were numerous clubs vying for his services ahead of the new campaign, including Highlands Park, Chippa United and an unnamed side.

Ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, the burly striker was pipped to make the move to either Kaizer Chiefs or Pirates, but Leopards managed to retain his services for that season.

It was believed that Highlands were frontrunners to land his signature with the deal all but a formality, with head coach Owen Da Gama keen to reinforce his attacking options.

However, that deal has fallen through following the sale of the club’s PSL status to Tim Sukazi.

His agent, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi of Rush Hour Sports has since confirmed that the deal with the Tembisa outfit has fallen through, but is confident that Mhlongo will have a club when the new season kicks off.

“He was supposed to sign for Highlands Park, but now since the team was sold, I am looking for something else for the player. There are teams interested but we are still talking to them. There is a club outside of Johannesburg that are very serious about the player,” Mulovhedzi told the Siya crew.
