Man stabbed in eye

A 27-year-old man from the Oshuungu village in the Omusati region was stabbed with a knife in his right eye.

According to Omusati regional crime investigations coordinator, deputy commissioner Moses Malakiya, the incident happened at 00:40 on Sunday.

Malakiya said Lucas Johannes sustained a serious injury and was transported to the Oshikuku State Hospital.

In another incident, a 15-year-old girl was allrgedly raped by an unknown man at Okaruano in the Ruacana constituency on Friday.

"It's alleged the suspect called the minor to his house, promised to give her a cellphone and then had sexual intercourse with her," Malakiya said.

He said the victim is mentally handicapped.

The suspect has not been arrested.

The police in the Omusati region have also arrested seven men after they were reportedly found in possession of game meat.

They have also been charged with contravention of sections 2 and 33 of the Arms and Ammunition Act 7 of 1996, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence, contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act 29 of 2004, the acquisition and possession of proceeds of unlawful activities, and the

contravention of regulation 11(1) of the stage 3 state of the emergency Covid-19 proclamation no 48.

The men were arrested on Friday at around 23h30 at the junction of Onkani and Narravandu Gate in the Uuvudhiya constituency.

"The suspects used a shotgun and a vehicle to hunt and kill a steenbok without a permit during the night, and transported the carcass to the value N$3 000," Malakiya said.

He said the suspects are aged 58, 40, 41, 42 and 30.

They are from the Omulunga village in the Oshana region.

The suspects will appear in the Okahao Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Their vehicle has been seized.
