Assam reports 1292 new COVID-19 cases as death toll rises to 469

With a total detection of 1292 fresh COVID-19 cases in the state, Assam’s overall tally rose to 1,42,763 on Sunday.

Of the new cases, 422 cases were reported from Kamrup (Metro), 134 from Jorhat and 107 from Lakhimpur.

Meanwhile, 16 more patients succumbed to COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the state’s overall fatality tally to 469.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Mannan Ali (43) of Sivasagar, Prafulla Gogoi (78) of Tinsukia, Bidyawati Gogoi (67) of Sivasagar, Md Phulki Ali (77) of Sivasagar, Nanda Kanta Gogoi (78) of Kmrup (Metro), Jaydeb Kalita (60) of Kamrup (Metro), Saraj Kumar Dutta (85) of Kamrup (Metro), Lukeswar Boro (70) of Golaghat, Bijit Boro (52) of Golaghat, Dilip Dutta (52) of Sonitpur, Krishna Bashtola (54) of Sonitpur, Barada Devi (68) of Nalbari, Gopal Krishna Bordoloi (74) of Sivasagar, Rekha Biswas (70) of Kamrup (Metro), Swarupa Nanda Konwar (84) of Tinsukia and Gul Mohammad SK (62) of Dhubri.

Meanwhile, Meanwhile, 2251 patients discharged on Sunday, tweeted Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“Only 20 per cent of the total positive patients are active now. Rest all have been discharged. Gratitude and best wishes to team doctors,” the tweet added.

So far a total of 1,13,133 patients have recovered in the state and the total number of active cases stands at 28, 158.
