"We tried everything so that Casillas could say goodbye on the pitch"

Siramana Dembele, Sergio Conceicao's assistant at Porto, said that the coach did everything possible so that he could say goodbye on the pitch.

Iker Casillas ended his career in sad fashion after not being able to recover from a heart problem. 

The former Porto keeper left the club and received lots of affection from the Portuguese club, but everyone would have liked him to say goodbye on the pitch.

We were lucky to be able to share a few years with him and we could say goodbye after his heart problem and also with his wife's health problems. We tried everything so that he could play even for a minute, but it was not to be,"

"It was fair for him to be with us to lift the trophies because he made the squad grow and evolve. The coach made his presence a priority.
