Spending a little extra time at home this year means you’re probably getting pretty good at putting your own grazing platters together. Now, with spring upon us and entertaining season on the horizon, well-curated Newtown cheese and wine bar The Stinking Bishops has put together two new hampers for your next night in (or for when you can’t snag a table at the tiny Enmore Road diner due to Covid-19 restrictions).

All the ingredients are sourced from local suppliers. The Big Aussie Hamper ($189) is packed with chicken-liver pate and fennel salami (or pickles and sauerkraut for vegetarians); jam; chilli oil; crackers; walnut rolada; and four types of cheese (goat’s, blue, brie and cheddar).

The monthly subscription box can be purchased as a one-off or in quarterly or biannual instalments, with bigger discounts depending on the length of your subscription (pricing starts at $90). This one comes with chicken-liver pate (or sauerkraut); goat’s and cheddar cheese; jam; chilli oil; lavosh crackers; and red-gum-smoked salt. Some surprise ingredients will be added after the first delivery for ongoing subscriptions, too.

You can also add on an aligoté or sangiovese from Mallaluka Wines (just north of Canberra) for $30 per bottle.

The Stinking Bishops also has three other hampers that were launched in March this year (during the Covid lockdown): a three-cheese box, a cheese and meat pack, and an ultimate hamper.

Delivery is $15 and available within 20 kilometres of the restaurant, or you can arrange pick-up. Ongoing monthly subscription boxes are delivered for free.
