Exams for PG admissions hope to prepare pupils

With studies taking the digital route in face of the coronavirus pandemic, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) too is eyeing holding online entrance examinations for its various postgraduate programmes and integrated courses from September 28.

While the admission process for the next year has also begun, the varsity has launched a proctored method to conduct tests for its various departments. Accordingly, mock tests have been organised to help students familiarise themselves with the virtual exam mode.

Students can take the mock tests between September 21 and 26.

Uttam Chavan, deputy registrar, PG admission, informed, "In order to get acquainted with the proctored method, students can take the mock tests before appearing for the actual exams."

A total of 28,000 students have applied for 3,200 available seats in 61 different courses at the varsity, pertaining to faculties like humanities, science and technology, commerce and management, among others.

A student appearing for the humanities entrance exam said, "The mock test will help us understand the technicalities and prepare for the final round."

Students are even allowed to appear for the mock tests multiple times to eliminate doubts.

With the entrance examinations scheduled between September 28 and 30 in batches, results will likely be out on October 3.

Students will be allowed to take the exams through gadgets such as mobile phone, laptop, computer, iPad and so on. Similar mock tests for admission to bachelor programmes were earlier conducted in a pilot project.
