During Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege will be coming to Xbox Series X later this year, and will be available for the same price as the current version. Players who already own the game will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version "on the same family of devices" for free, carrying across all progression and content.
The next-gen version of Rainbow Six Siege will feature 4K and 120 FPS "with render scaling," according to the press release. Ubisoft also added that it'll be a cross-generation game, so you can play with next-gen players, again "on the same family of devices," even if you haven't upgraded to the Xbox Series X version.
Ubisoft also shadow-launched Shadow Legacy, a new Operation which adds in Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher as new Operator Zero along with a map rework of Chalet and other updates. The Chalet map rework is free to everyone. Sam Fisher, on the other hand, is playable now if you've got the Year 5 Pass — otherwise, he's unlockable with Renown or R6 Credits from next week, on September 17th. Fisher is an Attacker, and his Argus Launcher special ability lets you stick two-way cameras onto surfaces to spy on the other team.
Operation Shadow Legacy is out now, and the next-gen version of Rainbow Six Siege arrives later this year.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
