Fantasy Injury Updates: Is Courtland Sutton playing Monday night? (Updated)

Courtland Sutton is a top-25fantasy WR when healthy. The problem to close out Week 1 is that Sutton is questionable for Monday Night Football against the Titans with a sprained AC joint that he sustained Thursday. Playing in the latter half of Monday's doubleheader, the Broncos' top WR leaves fantasy football owners with few options if his shoulder injury keeps him out. Denver head coach Vic Fangio told reporters that if Sutton can do 10 jumping jacks pregame Monday, the receiver will be active. We're not sure if he was joking.

We'll have updates below in the meantime and right up until the official inactive report is released at around 8:50 p.m. ET. Forinjury updates on Golden Tate, click here. Formore fantasy news, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fantasy.

Is Courtland Sutton playing Monday night?

UPDATE 2: Sutton is officially OUT.

UPDATE: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Sutton is a "longshot" to play Monday night.

Fangio acknowledged that the jumping-jack test is "the most primitive test there is." Apparently that's as good a gauge of Sutton's shoulder mobility as anything, though. The lack of practice time Friday or Saturday means no one outside Denver has any idea if Sutton will be able to execute those jumping jacks and get on the field.

Players don't frequently miss the last two practices of the week and then play, especially a young WR in Week 1. But we saw Mike Evans play a healthy snap load despite not spending much time on the practice field this week already, so maybe Sutton can do it, too.

With the Broncos playing the final game of the week, if you've kept Sutton in your lineup this long, you have to play him if he's active. He hasincreased risk but could still put up a WR2-level day.

MORE WEEK 2: Top waiver pickups

If Sutton is inactive and you don't own another wideout from the Broncos or Titans, the best options on your waiver wire might be Tennessee's Corey Davis or Denver's DaeSean Hamilton (in PPR leagues) or Tim Patrick (in standard formats). You might have Sutton sitting in your flex spot right now; if so, tight ends Jonnu Smith or Noah Fant might both be more appealing plays than those WRs, if available.

News could come out about Sutton earlier in the day, too. If we know Sutton is out before the Giants and Steelers kick off at 7:10 p.m. ET, you could also check your wire for WR James Washington or Sterling Shepard/Darius Slayton invery shallow leagues.
