Two hurt in overnight Brooklyn and Queens shootings

Two men were wounded in overnight shootings in Brooklyn and Queens as the citywide surge in gun violence continues, cops said.
A 38-year-old man was blasted in the back, arm and leg on Roosevelt Avenue near Elbertson Street in Corona just before 4 a.m., cops said.
He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition.
The shooting stemmed from a squabble with another man who took off on foot, according to police.
Earlier, a 34-year-old man was sitting on a bench when he was shot in the left shin just before midnight on Dekalb Avenue near Stuyvesant Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, cops said.
He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and simply described hearing shots and feeling pain.
No arrests have been made in either case.
The gunplay capped off another bloody weekend citywide.
In total on Sunday, six shootings were reported with seven victims, according to preliminary figures released by the NYPD. Two people were killed, including Ezequiel Rivera, 27, who was shot in the chest around 9:15 a.m. following a dispute with a gunman in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx.
Hours earlier, a 35-year-old man was killed and a 27-year-old man wounded during a Queens shooting as a wake for a Marine veteran was held nearby.
On that day last year, two people were shot and one person was killed.
Saturday was even bloodier in Gotham, with 14 shot in a dozen separate incidents. Five people were killed. On that day in 2019, there were three shootings with four victims, and the city saw one homicide.
On Friday, four people were shot in four separate incidents. One person was killed.
Last year on that day, the city also saw a single homicide. Three people were shot, according to the figures.
