Oman: 15-year-old boy dies of coronavirus

Ministry of Health warns against complacency among younger people

Dubai: A 15-year-old boy has died of coronavirus in Oman, local media reported.

Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs, was quoted as saying: “Deaths in the Sultanate focused on the elderly who are over the age of 60. On the other hand, the youngsters were not spared. Two nights ago a 15-year-old boy died of the virus and he did not have any prior diseases.”

Speaking about the latest developments and indicators related to COVID-19 in the country, the undersecretary said: “We have also reported deaths among those who are in their 20s and 30s. Those falling in this age group are not safe either, even though they do not die, they get seriously infected and admitted to intensive care.”

“Intensive care is not a cakewalk. Rather and one must avoid that since many of young people have fallen seriously ill after being infected with COVID-19 and are still under intensive care,” he added.
