Stripped-Down C8 Corvette Cruises The Streets Of Mexico

This is what we call barebones.

The C8 Corvette is the first of its name to have a mid-engine layout, and this has completely changed the look of the car which traditionally featured an engine in the front. The exotic supercar look has been embraced by fans across the world and has been a smart move by Chevrolet. While the car's exterior styling has proved to be quite the hit, Chevrolet has experienced some issues with the frunk opening up while on the move. The car seen here won't have that same problem, as it has no frunk, fenders, or anything else really. This stripped-down C8 has been spotted hitting the streets of Mexico wearing nothing but its bones.

In the video, Wendy Sigala and Robert Ma from Simbolo Wheels can be seen piloting this naked machine on busy city streets. "We're just driving around and getting people's reactions," says Sigala. The pair are seen driving through busy shopping mall parking lots where people stand up and take notice of the oddball car rolling through. The car they are driving has been prepped for a widebody kit that adds enlarged side intakes, flared wheel arches, and a massive rear wing, to transform the overall look of the stock C8.

The C8 Corvette Stingray features a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 490 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear via a dual-clutch transmission. The base curb weight of this car is 3,622 pounds and the performance figures include a zero to sixty time of only 2.9 seconds when fitted with the Z51 package, a 11.2 second quarter-mile time, and a top speed of 194 mph. With all of that weight stripped off the car, you can be sure that those times will take a dip, but the lower weight might also hurt traction. While it might be interesting to look at, a C8 with a widebody kit is always preferable.
