Bag-snatching bid foiled

by

Two alert constables and a final-year-BCom student foiled a bag-snatching attempt near Coles Park bus stop on Saturday.

Joshini, the BCom student, was on her way to collect her hall ticket with her brother on the scooter.

Two men followed the siblings for some distance on their bike before attempting the robbery.

“I saw that the pillion rider on the vehicle next to us was tugging at my bag. I held on to it as tightly as I could,” said Joshini. As she held onto the bag, the two-wheeler toppled and the siblings fell on the road.

She yelled for help and Head Constable Nagendra and Police Constable Hemanth Kumar of Pulikeshinagar Traffic Police Station, who were on duty in the area, came over. While Kumar helped the girl up, Nagendra attempted to block the attackers.

Though the criminals managed to escape, the constables seized the vehicle and took it to the Bharathi Nagar Police Station.

The owner of the vehicle was then summoned to the station on the pretext of a traffic violation involving his vehicle through whom the criminals, Aaseef and Tauseef were traced.

An FIR has been filed at the Bharathi Nagar Police Station against the men.
