Man survives being shot in back of head in Yardley Wood street
Police hunting gunman after attack in Yardley Wood Road, which was sealed off on Sunday
by birminghammail.co.ukPolice are hunting a gunman after a man was shot in the back of the head in Yardley Wood - but survived.
The victim, said to be in his 20s, presented himself at a Birmingham hospital on Saturday night and later discharged himself.
Police later sealed off an area on Yardley Wood Road, near the petrol station, where it is believed the shooting took place.
Officers searched the area on Sunday morning and forensics experts were seen placing markers on the ground.
A spokeswoman from West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating reports of a shooting after a man presented at hospital with minor gunshot injuries to the back of his head on Saturday 12 September.
“Detectives examined a scene on Yardley Wood Road, Birmingham where we believe a shooting took place, but investigations are ongoing to establish if the two incidents are linked.

One local posted on a Facebook forum on Sunday: “It’s been like that most of the day... there was tape up and a few police.
“There was loads of police and they were all searching in the road and those little yelow cards with numbers on.”
