Manchester United: Jose Mourinho favourite wants to move out of United as soon as possible

Some frustrated figures want an exit from Manchester United this summer.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was looking relaxed; his team had just scored an opener via a brilliant curled finish from the captain Harry Maguire. And sitting on the bench with his legs crossed, the Norwegian might not have seen what was about to venture in the coming minutes.

Following a jaw-dropping run from the right-back position and a tricky yet effective drop of a shoulder, Diogo Dalot, the unsung hero of that heavenly comeback in UEFA Champions League first knock-out stage at Paris’ Parc des Princes stadium over the home team Paris Saint Germain on March 6, 2019, blasted the ball into the nets with a swift right-footed crack to rack up his first professional goal in the United’s colours, giving the Mancunian club an early 2-0 edge in what was a significant 6-0 triumph against Tranmere Rovers in their first knock-out tie of FA Cup last January.

However, since then, we haven’t seen Diogo Dalot, a reported £19.3 million buy from Porto in 2018, featuring for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United week in, week out. Prior to the lockdown enforced by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the 21-year-old started only once in the FA Cup quarter-final match against Norwich City — where Dalot, having put up a miserable output, got substituted by Brandon Williams at the 63rd-minute of the game.

Dalot, who was touted to be the best full-back at his age group across Europe by Jose Mourinho during his time at the red side of Manchester, remained unpicked during the congested fixture-list Premier League had offered after its return from a nearly three-month hiatus, meaning Solskjaer doesn’t see him as a long-term member of his well-orchestrated plans.

According to a report written by Laurie Whitwell from The Athletic, Manchester United are open to selling the full-back in this summer transfer window.

Amidst reports surrounding the club claiming that Manchester United are in the hunt for a new name for the left-back position, Solskjaer doesn’t want to give Dalot a chance in that respective position, as it has been claimed that the gaffer wants the burning desire to do better on the field from their full-backs — the quality that the manager has not seen inside Dalot yet.

While talking about the interested parties, it is suggested that the player has been on the radar of PSG for a while, but there has not been any formal contact. On the other hand, Everton want a right-back as a cover for their first-choice option, Séamus Coleman. And after spending big on acquiring midfielders in this transfer window, it is understood that The Toffees wants a season-long loan move for the Portuguese rather than a permanent buy.

Diogo Dalot has reportedly become frustrated with the situation and seeks an exit immediately. Manchester United have not made any drastic change to their roster during this summer transfer window, with only Donny van de Beek arriving from Ajax and Alexis Sanchez securing his permanent move to Inter Milan as of yet.

However, with the deadline day closing in, everyone expects some sort of acceleration in regard to the transfer activities from the Manchester-based club. And just in case you have forgotten, the ongoing transfer period will come to an end on October 5.
