Colonel Tom Moore brought viewers to tears during Piers Morgan’s Life Stories as he detailed his time during the war.

The 100-year-old – who raised more than £32million for the NHS during the pandemic – joined the ITV host for a rather emotional interview.

When Piers asked the hero if he ever feared for his life during the war he simply replied: ‘It was tough at times but the whole object was to beat the enemy.

‘I was just a soldier, I was just one of many people fighting for the same cause.

‘I thought maybe I’ll get through this one and we will win – I had survived unharmed and I was one of the lucky ones.’

Speaking about the importance of his war medals, he continued: ‘I think the medals are very important, it shows I was there and so many people don’t remember what it was like so maybe it will make people think.’
