Manchester United given huge boost in their pursuit of Anthony Martial’s back-up

Manchester United need to quicken things up a bit.

Summer is obviously a funny and beautiful season — the only season that makes people aware of the scoring heat coming out of the gigantic orb. For football fans, the summer means, unlike this season, three months with no football, as enthusiasts turn their eyes from the football pitches to the front pages of sports outlets.

But what do they search for in the off-season? The only thing that makes this barren period crazy, enjoyable and exciting is the mill consisting perpetual rumours of players moving to one club from another. Fans witness a few remarkable sagas, transfer records get broken season in season out, and most importantly a club’s vision and determination get exposed with each hit or miss.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, having gained promotion in the 2018-19 season, have had revitalised the aura of Premier League with a sublime manager in Nuno Espírito Santo at the helm. They massively overachieved in their inaugural season, finishing 6th in the league with 57 points, and securing a spot in next season’s Europa League.

Despite Wolves having faced difficulties to cope with the congested fixture list demanded by a new European campaign, they were quick to resolve things and get back to what they had been doing since their promotion. With 59 points this time, Wolve finished 7th, missing out on next season’s Europa League owing to the fact that Arsenal, who had finished 8th in the league, won the FA Cup.

But when a manager’s tactics fail, there comes the transfer window to provide a team with much-needed support. And Wolves have certainly started doing things that will make themselves better — the arrival of Fabio Silva from Porto for a reported transfer fee of £35 million is one of those many things.

According to the reports from Express Sport, Wolves’ capture of Silva might open the doors for Manchester United to resume their progression in the pursuit of Wolves’ star striker Raul Jimenez.

The Wolverhampton club have broken their club transfer record to sign Fabio Silva, meaning Nuno Espírito Santo sees him as an integral part in his plans for the upcoming season. Fabio, 18, is touted as a generational talent by those closely spectated the prospect over the years.

Manchester United, on the other side, have been in the hunt for an out-and-out striker, with Anthony Martial‘s back up in Odion Ighalo seemingly returning to China at the end of his extended loan spell with the Mancunian club next January.

It is understood that Manchester United have been considering making a move for the Mexican for a while, with his asking price of £60 million being a blockage in the deal. United have already made an unexpected move by adding Donny van de Beek to their roster, and maybe the next one appears in the shape of Raul Jimenez sooner than later.

Do you think Manchester United will sign Raul Jimenez this summer?
