A Bihar boy covered 700 kilometers, travelled for more than 24 hours non-stop, changed buses, took a cab yet missed his NEET 2020 examination by just 10 minutes!

"I requested the guard, went to meet the principal, but no one allowed me," said 19-year-old Santosh Kumar Yadav, visibly distraught after being denied entry by authorities at the private school in Salt Lake where the examination was being conducted.

A resident of Bihar's Darbhanga district, the teenager says he lost critical time as his bus got stuck in a massive jam on Saturday.

"I boarded a bus from Bihar at 8 am on Saturday. There was a massive jam between Muzaffarpur and Patna due to which I lost 6 hours. We left Patna at 9 pm and reached Kolkata around 1 pm on Sunday. Then I took a cab and reached the examination center around 1:40 pm," he said.

The deadline for entering the exam center was 1:30 pm, half an hour before the test began at 2 pm.

Yadav says he had been desperately trying to book a bus ticket for two days and finally got one for Saturday. The son of a farmer, Santosh paid Rs 300 for his cab ride to the exam centre.

"I've lost a crucial year. Will see what happens...have to begin preparing for next year's test," the teenager said, as he left for home with his uncle.
