iPhone 12 Pro chassis leak showcases LiDAR, 5G antenna placement, and those wonderfully machined flat metal sides

by

A new chassis leak video shared by @EveryApplePro gave us a good look at the Apple iPhone 12 Pro’s innards, days before the official September 16th Apple Event. The brief chassis leak highlights many of the features we expect to see on the iPhone 12 Pro, including the flat bezels on the side, strongly reminiscent of the classic iPhone 5.

We caught a glimpse of where the iPhone 12 Pro’s LiDAR scanner is located, right there in the camera bump. The @EveryApplePro leak suggests that the iPhone 12 Pro’s 5G antenna placement will be subtle. We’re still looking at thin plastic strips on the sides, but support for higher speed 5G at least doesn’t come at the cost of the iPhone 12 Pro’s aesthetic appeal.

It’s important to note here that we’re looking at the chassis for the 6.1-in iPhone 12 Pro model, not the 6.7-in iPhone 12 Pro Max. This means that highly anticipated LiDAR scanning technology won’t be limited to the top-tier iPhone model
