Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent also believes Ings is the right man to act as back-up for club captain Harry Kane.

“If Spurs were to go and get Danny Ings and he was to go and score five or six goals before Harry Kane gets back, I don’t think automatically Harry Kane walks back in the team.

“You are getting the best out of someone, you are winning games now and you have someone who can stick the ball in the back of the net," Bent told Talk Sport.

Reports also claim that the Special One is also looking towards the direction of Metz striker Habib who scored 12 Ligue 1 goals last term and it is understood the 25-year-old is keen on a move to north London.

Italian striker Andrea Belotti is also on the list as the Torino striker has been in consistent form in the last three years, scoring 22 goals for the Serie A side across all competitions last campaign.

Benfica's Carlos Vinicius and Napoli's Arkadiusz Milik are the two remaining strikers on the wishlist of Mourinho.

Vinicius' 24 goals for Benfica last season helped his side retain the Primeira Liga trophy while Milik who has been linked with Juventus this summer and seeks for first-team action.
