Prosecution Move To Revoke The Bail Of Actor Dileep in Actress Abducted Case In Kerala As Witnesses Turned Hostile
The prosecution has decided to revoke the actor’s bail in view of the accused has influenced the witnesses and many witnesses turned hostile so far during the trial procedure that is proceeding in the special trial court in Kochi, Kerala.

Ernakulum: The prosecution has filed a plea to revoke the bail granted for Keralite actor Dileep, the accused in the case of abduction and molestation of a popular actress in Kochi, Ernakulum district in Kerala. The prosecution has decided to revoke the actor’s bail in view of the accused has influenced the witnesses and many witnesses turned hostile so far during the trial procedure that is proceeding in the special trial court in Kochi, Kerala. One of the key witnesses who had given a statement that the actor made conspiracy with the key accused Sunil Kumaar alias Pulsar Suni, also turned hostile in the case. With this, the prosecution has decided to revoke the bail granted for the actor after his 87-day jail term after was arrested by the police in 2017 June.
Earlier also the prosecution has conveyed the same opinion when the actor applied for bail after he had been arrested by the police in the sensational actress abducted and molested case in Kochi in the Ernakulum district that shattered Kerala society in May 2017. The bail plea submitted by the actor during his 87-day long jail period had been rejected four times. Kerala High Court had rejected his bail plea two times and the actor was denied bail from Angamali judicial first-class magistrate Court twice. Four times the two courts where the actor appealed for bail agreed to the contention forwarded by the prosecution that if he was released, he could influence witnesses and weaken the case.
The Keralite actress with a stint in the South Indian film field was allegedly abducted and molested in a running vehicle in the busy street of Kochi reportedly at around 8 pm in May in 2017. Popular Keralite actor Dileep’s name surfaced in the case in a hidden way, the next day after the incident took place. The accused actor’s ex-wife and popular actress Manju Warrier took a stand that was supportive to the victim. She is the first person to point against the actor that there was a clear conspiracy behind the abduction and molestation of the actress. Later the name of popular actor who has a stint in the South Indian film industry had been surfaced in the case. He was questioned for 13 hours before his unexpected arrested and let off. Later he was arrested and sent to Sub jail in Aluva and constantly denied bail as the prosecution expressed apprehension that the actor could influence witness as a powerful person.
Incidentally, CBI Special Judge, Ernakulam, Honey M. Varghese was given the additional responsibility of trying the case following an order from the Kerala High Court. It was on a petition from the victim seeking a woman judicial officer to try the case that the High Court had appointed Ms. Varghese, also an Additional Sessions Judge, to try the case.
Due to COVID lock down the trail of the actress abducted case has been extended to complete its proceedings. The deadline issued by the Supreme Court to complete the trial proceedings had expired in April. The nearly three-month-long lockdown and the slow pace of the proceedings in the post-COVID days had upset the schedule fixed by the apex court, said judicial sources.
However, the actor, in his bail petition, contended that he was totally innocent and that he was falsely implicated in the case as part of a larger conspiracy by a powerful section in the film industry with a view to ousting him from the field.
